Who we are

I run businesses,
and I build the software.

Which is an odd combination, and the reason this company exists at all.

Who you'd work with

You'll be talking to
the person who builds it.

Chivvy is deliberately small. There is no account manager, no delivery team you get handed to after the call, and nobody translating what you said into a spec somebody else reads.

Founder

Andy Jackson

I've spent my working life running businesses, and the last few years building the software they run on.

That's an unusual way round. Most people who build business software have never had to live with the consequences of their own decisions on a Monday morning — chase the invoice, explain the number that moved, make the call nobody wants to make. I have.

I also coach business owners, which is where the impatience with jargon comes from. Spend enough time across the desk from people running real companies and you stop being impressed by technology that can't explain what it's for.

Everything on this site was built for a business I'm responsible for, with my own money and my own reputation attached. That's why I'll tell you when software isn't the answer — I've paid for the version where it wasn't.

Why it's built this way

We were the first
customer.

Everything on this site exists because a business we're responsible for needed it. The practice operating system was built because the software on the market didn't fit. The content engine was built because publishing to eighteen properties by hand was impossible. The acquisition engine was built because the standard way of finding firms produced a useless list.

That's the whole reason we can be blunt about what technology will and won't do for you. We've had to live with the consequences of getting it wrong, on our own time, with our own clients.
