This page explains what this site stores on your device, and what we do with it. It is deliberately short, because there isn't much.
What we set by default
Nothing. No analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies are loaded when you arrive. The only thing stored before you make a choice is your choice itself, once you've made it.
If you click Accept
We load Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies to count visits and see which pages get read. IP addresses are anonymised. We use it to work out which guides are worth writing more of — nothing else.
We do not run advertising, we do not build profiles, and we do not share the data with anyone for their own purposes.
If you click Decline
Nothing is loaded and nothing is counted. The site works exactly the same.
The one thing stored either way
Your accept-or-decline choice, in your browser's local storage, so you aren't asked again on every page. Clearing your browser data removes it and you'll be asked once more.
Changing your mind
Clear this site's data in your browser settings and the banner will reappear.
If you send us an enquiry
The form submits to Netlify, our hosting provider, and reaches us by email. We keep it so we can reply and so we have a record of the conversation. We don't add you to any mailing list, because we don't have one. Ask us to delete it and we will.
