Case study · Practice Portal + Growth Engine

Client software any accountancy firm can put its name on

Two products from one platform. Practice Portal serves the clients a firm already has. Growth Engine, a website with a sales list and proposals accepted online, wins the next ones. Both carry the firm's own brand, and both are self-serve.

Fourteen days free, no card.

One record from stranger to client

Growth Engine runs the first four steps and Practice Portal takes over at the fifth. It is one login and one record the whole way. The vet practice below is fictional.

The client side of the firm in one place

Buzz OS proved the pattern inside one firm. The question was whether the client half could become a product any firm could run in its own colours without us in the room. It could, and it took days.

Every firm gets its own walled-off slice of the database, with the walls enforced in the database engine itself. Its logo and colour sit on every screen and every email.

  • A link and a codeClients open a personal link and prove who they are with a six-digit code emailed to them. No password to forget or reset.
  • Documents and requestsAccounts and letters filed, bank statements asked for with a checklist the client ticks off, and a one-click chase.
  • SigningE-signing with a fingerprint certificate on every signed document.
  • Companies House throughoutAdd a client by company number and the register fills in officers, year end and filing dates, refreshed nightly.

A director identity checker anyone can use

Directors now have to verify their identity with Companies House. The checker reads the public register for any company and shows who has verified, who still must, and by when.

Growth Engine

A sales list shaped like a practice

The stages end in an engagement letter and the values are in annual fees. Organisations are built from Companies House, and enquiries arrive from the firm's website or any form that posts to it. Contacts can come across from Capsule.

Proposals are priced from the firm's own catalogue: flat fees, per head, or turnover bands. When a prospect accepts, the letter is generated from the firm's template with the agreed services and fees, goes out for e-signature, and the client's set-up starts. The firm finds out by email that it has all happened.

In front of it sits a website on the firm's own domain and colours, with a library of client guides that publishes weekly so the site never goes stale.

Productise what we already run

Chivvy's trade is bespoke builds. Twice now a build for our own businesses has been general enough to sell: the Acquisition Engine, and this. The rule was to productise only what we already use in production. Every feature on the pricing page was in daily use before a stranger could pay for it.

The firm's name on everything

A firm's clients see the firm: its logo, its colour, its email address on every message, its name on the engagement letter. Practice Portal appears once, in the small print of the sign-up the firm itself goes through.

Tell us the job that keeps not getting done. We'll tell you if software can take it off you, and what it costs.
